MND SUPPORT SERVICES

The Matt Hampson Foundation now offers support at our Get Busy Living Centre to those diagnosed with MND. We believe our Centre has a unique atmosphere alongside specialist professionals to support those living with MND who want to continue living an active lifestyle.

Working in partnership with My Name5 Doddie Foundation, places are available by self-referral and the only criteria is that anyone seeking support must have an association with sport, either competitively or in enjoying a range of recreational activity.

The MND programme includes:

Weekly physiotherapy session for personalised exercise planning, assessment and treatment of soft tissue/joint dysfunction, postural management and advice, and facilitation of movements if unable to achieve independently.

Physio sessions and exercise groups are generally offered on a Wednesday morning but please let us know if this does not work for you as we can be flexible.

The FES cycling programme aids maintenance of muscle bulk and activity through arms and legs. After set-up, this is available to use independently within the gym.

Access to the Centre gym for independent use with a carer for support if required following physiotherapy assessment and induction.

Monthly group exercise session in the Centre gym.

Weekly sessions with focus on breath work, meditation and mobility plus access to monthly group sessions subject to availability.

Access to monthly group counselling session.

Invitation to beneficiary experience days (following physiotherapy assessment to clarify functional ability) featuring a range of activities.

Advice sessions from Silverback Coaching.

Ability to stay in an onsite accommodation lodge with intensive rehab package including full access to Centre facilities and up to three hours of one-to-one therapy per day plus access to yoga, counselling and nutritional support on request.

A welcoming and supportive community at the Foundation with monthly group social/lunch at the Centre facilitated by existing beneficiaries and staff, plus annual family barbeque on a Saturday during the summer to cater for up to 100 people.

“I started playing golf about 18 months before my accident and I got the bug so being able to use the Paragolfer has been great. You adapt a way to play and I just love doing it.”
