Each of our beneficiaries has their own tailored journey and unique experience with the Foundation. Here’s what it could look like for you.

Initial contact

Initial contact is made either by the Foundation reaching out following news of your injury, or by receiving an enquiry from you via phone or online.

In-person meeting

Our team meet with you and your family, often at the hospital or care facility where you are residing. We then arrange for you to visit the Get Busy Living Centre to see our facilities and to meet other beneficiaries and staff.

Visit MHF and meet the team

You are booked in at the Centre for initial sessions with our physio team, personal trainer and counsellor to discuss your goals, ambitions and the amazing recovery journey you’re about to embark on.

Tailored plan created for you

The teams work together to create a tailored rehabilitation plan for you and regular sessions are booked in. Now the fun begins as you start to spend time at the Centre, working hard in your sessions, meeting your peers, sharing experiences over a coffee and starting to get busy living.

Settle into life at the Centre

As you settle into life at the Centre you join in on experience days with the support of the Foundation team and your peers. You’ll have the opportunity to speak to a range of experts providing advice on careers and job opportunities, how to get into para-sport, nutrition and diet, bladder and bowel management, orthotics and mobility aids, occupational therapy, yoga and pilates classes – the list goes on!

Certified member of Team Hambo!

You’re now a fully-fledged member of Team Hambo and begin to take on the role of mentor to new Beneficiaries joining the community. They are achieving the physical and mental goals they set in their initial sessions and making plans for the future in sport, employment and relationships.

Your personal goals are achieved

You are healthy, confident and getting busy living and will go on to support others just beginning the same journey.

Once you’ve been a Beneficiary of the Foundation, you’re a member of the Team Hambo community for life.
