WILL CLIMBS INTO BRITISH TEAM FOR THE NEW SEASON
Will Ruane, a Matt Hampson Foundation beneficiary, has been included in the GB Para-climbing Team for the 2024 season.
After a national title win during his first year of competition during 2023, Will has been selected in a 23-strong team by the British Mountaineering Council for the year ahead.
Team manager Zoe Spriggins said: “We are now less than six months away from the Innsbruck World Cup which will see us field our biggest team of the season. This will be an opportunity for our emerging talent to experience a competition environment on an international stage and also for us to gauge how other nations are performing.”
Para-climbing is hoping for inclusion in the 2028 Paralympics.
Will was recipient of the Foundation’s Get Busy Living Award for 2023 in recognition of his achievements since a spinal injury in 2021. As well as success in his new sport, he has shown strong support for other Foundation beneficiaries while also returning to his career in the glass manufacturing business.
