WALKERS CONQUER THREE PEAKS TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT
David Scott says he had “amazing” support for a sponsored climb of the Three Peaks in Yorkshire in aid of charities including the Matt Hampson Foundation.
A beneficiary of the MND programme run at the Matt Hampson Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire, David and supporters organised a sponsored challenge featuring more than 50 participants with ages ranging from 17 to 60-plus to raise awareness and funds for three chosen charities – the Matt Hampson Foundation, MND Association and LOROS hospice.
A 24-mile route featuring more than 5,000 feet of climbing took in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in one day, beginning in the early morning and with the final group reaching their destination around 7.00pm.
Their efforts have raised more than £15,000 between their three charities.
David said: “The support was just amazing. It was the hardest thing we’ve ever done but everyone is asking what the next challenge will be.
“Thanks to everyone for taking part and, even more importantly, for raising awareness for MND. And a special thank-you to my best mate Justin for organising this event.”
