WALKERS TAKE ON TRIPLE CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT FRIEND’S CHARITIES
A group of walkers are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of charities including the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Friends of David Scott, who visits the Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire as part of its MND programme, are preparing for the hiking challenge this autumn.
Since David was diagnosed with MND, David and his friends and family have been putting events together to raise funds for research into the devastating disease and support for those living with it.
Their efforts have included a 54-hole golf tournament, a climb of Ben Nevis and community football matches while David, who is based in Leicester, also has a blog and vlog aimed at providing motivation, education and community for anyone affected by MND or looking to learn more about the condition and how to support others.
David is planning a Three Peaks trek for a group of walkers on Saturday 5th October in aid of three charities – MND Association, Matt Hampson Foundation and LOROS hospice.
More than 40 walkers have signed-up in advance and there is a welcome for anyone who wants to join for all or part of the 24 miles and 5,200 feet of ascent over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Matt Hampson Foundation, which works with young people following life-changing injury through sport, now also offers support including physiotherapy, fitness training, yoga, counselling and social activities for those diagnosed with MND.
Working in partnership with My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, places are available by self-referral and the only criteria is that anyone seeking support must have an association with sport, either competitively or in enjoying a range of recreational activity.
