SUPPORTERS CHEER TAYLOR TO MEDAL
Taylor Gough collected a medal on his debut at the European Para-Canoe Championship in the Czech Republic.
Matt Hampson Foundation beneficiary Taylor had the honour of carrying the national flag at the opening ceremony in Racice and his contribution on the water helped Team GB to top the medals table as he won bronze in the VL1 class over 200 metres in front of vocal support from family and friends.
Taylor recorded a time of 1min 11.989sec, behind winner Moritz Berthold (Germany, 1min 10.199sec) and the Italian, Alessio Bedin (1:11.016).
Just weeks earlier, Taylor was honoured by English rugby’s players and governing bodies with the RPA Blyth Spirit Award for an individual who has shown remarkable courage in the face of adversity.
A rugby player with Leicester Tigers, Taylor teamed up with the Matt Hampson Foundation following a spinal injury and has pursued competition in canoeing after previous success with the Tigers wheelchair rugby team.
