SOPHIE’S IMPACT IS REFLECTED WITH AWARD

Congratulations to the Matt Hampson Foundation’s head of operations Sophie Wilson who has received the Rising Star award from the Spinal Injuries Association.

Sophie and colleagues attended the Spinal Injuries Association’s Rebuilding Lives event in Milton Keynes and the awards evening during which the Foundation was also shortlisted in the Outstanding Team of the Year category.

“I have had my injury for eight years,” Sophie said as she collected the award from Brian Carlin, chief executive officer of Aspire charity, “and the fact there are so many professionals and charities that want to change the future and make more options for people like me is inspirational. Thank you.”

The Rebuilding Lives Awards recognise the achievements of individuals and groups in the spinal cord injury community who inspire others through their work, volunteering, services, support or raising awareness.

The Rising Star award is for those who have gone ‘above and beyond’ in their role in a specialist setting.

Sophie’s first interaction with the Foundation was as a beneficiary following injury and she then joined the team at its Get Busy Living Centre near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. As the Head of Peer Support, Sophie was often the first point of contact for beneficiaries and their family or friends. She has moved into a new role as Head of Operations while also competing at international level in adaptive fitness events.

Congratulations from everyone at the Matt Hampson Foundation to all the Rebuilding Lives Awards winners.

Sophie Wilson
