From Les Cusworth
Opinion: This was one of the most wonderful books I have read!
It was an easy read relating to the character and passion that Chalkie White had for life and Rugby, constantly improving and challenging all who had the pleasure to work with him.
A special mention must be made to Martin Whitcome the author who encapsulated all that is good about the wonderful game of Rugby.

“Chalkie” White was a legendary rugby union player and coach for the Leicester Tigers who transformed the club into the most successful in England.

He led the Tigers to three consecutive RFU cup victories from 1979 to 1981 and is widely regarded as “the best head coach England never had”.

His legacy is celebrated in the new hardback biography, Chalkie White: Leicester Tigers Legend, written by former Tigers player Martin Whitcombe with Peter Wheeler (Foreword) Martin Johnson (Afterword) David Matthews (Preface).

A new biography, Chalkie White: Leicester Tigers Legend, was released in 2025, written by Martin Whitcombe. It is based on over 80 interviews with people who knew him and provides a comprehensive look at his life and career.
