ALEX SHARPE
Gaining a driving licence has opened new avenues for Foundation beneficiary Alex Sharpe after injury during the Covid pandemic period.
Alex says meeting other Foundation beneficiaries has helped him to find a fresh focus.
He started work as a design technician for a steel fabrication company and says: “Work has not only given me a routine and a responsibility, but also the chance to start a career. It’s nice to feel I am on that ladder now.”

A motorsport fan, he has been introduced by a fellow beneficiary to autosolo which tests driving precision and control, and earned a scholarship to compete in his first season. He repaid the award with victory in both his category and the overall points standings.
“I had a great time at the assessment day and went from there,” Alex says. “I didn’t know what to expect but it is great to get involved, to try different events and meet other drivers. It feels like I’ve filled a void with something I can do well in too.”

“There is always something we have in common as beneficiaries, and people share experiences and give advice. That is really helpful, very valuable.”
