GEORGE SHARES INSIDE LINE ON THE PARALYMPIC GAMES EXPERIENCE
George Robinson says he has had an “incredible” introduction to the Paralympic Games in Paris as a member of the Channel 4 presenting team.
Matt Hampson Foundation beneficiary George has been at the heart of the action as a presenter and even tried some of the sports alongside members of the GB team.
“There was no real specific plan when we first started talking about it, but I thought it would be cool to do some comedy and some presentation,” says George who is best known for his acting career and role in the award-winning Netflix series Sex Education.
“I’ve been doing some comedy sketches as a kind of introduction to a few sports, the premise of the sketches has been that people can be under the assumption that, because I am disabled, I can be a Paralympian, like you just turn up.
“I have got involved in rowing, wheelchair rugby and boccia, and you see what is involved in each sport. It’s all been great fun.
“All the teams have been very generous and indulged my nonsense.”
George was also among the guests of The Last Leg live show in Paris on Saturday evening as part of Channel 4’s Games coverage.
Just being part of the Paralympics experience has had a big impact.
“I was at the wheelchair rugby on Friday between France and Australia, and the atmosphere was incredible. In a rugby-mad nation, they have really got behind it,” he says.
“It is incredible to be here. It’s the first Games I’ve been to and it’s amazing being in Paris – the energy is fantastic.”
