FITNESS FINALISTS PREPARE FOR VEGAS
Five members of the Matt Hampson Foundation team have qualified for the WheelWOD CrossFit Games in Las Vegas later this year.
Staff members Sophie Wilson and James Sutliff, plus beneficiaries Jacob Smith, Taylor Gough and Kylie Grimes are all heading to the USA in September after coming through a series of qualifiers to secure their places.
Sophie, who is also head of operations at the Foundation which supports young people following life-changing injury in sport, finished in second place on her debut in the global contest last year.
After narrowly missing out of the finals last year, ‘Sutty’ who works as personal trainer at the Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre, made it through this time ranked number six in his category and said: “This is a huge step forward and I am ready to give it everything I have got on the competition floor.”
The Adaptive Crossfit Games provide an opportunity for athletes with physical or neurological impairments in a test not just of fitness, strength and conditioning but also adaptability, grit and heart.
