MATT MAKES APPEAL ON NATIONAL RADIO
The Matt Hampson Foundation has been selected to make a national appeal on BBC Radio 4 this weekend, raising awareness and funds for its work with young people following life-changing injury.
No one can prepare for the impact of injury, but the Foundation provides somewhere to turn for physical and emotional support.
Matt experienced his own life-changing injury as a young professional rugby player in 2005 and is the driving force behind the Foundation and its Get Busy Living Centre near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire as well as being a mentor, inspiration and friend to beneficiaries and the team working with them.
Building a sense of community is central to the Foundation, allowing beneficiaries to draw on the experience and knowledge of others who have been on a similar journey as they develop the skills they need to move on, to rebuild their lives and retrain themselves to focus on what they can do – not what they can’t.
How and when to listen
BBC Radio 4: Sunday 24th August (on air at 7.54am and 9.25pm) and repeated on Thursday (3.27pm). Also available here, or on the BBC Radio 4 Appeals website and Radio 4 section of the BBC Sounds app.
Help us to support young people following life-changing injury through sport.
Matt will deliver the Foundation’s appeal on BBC Radio 4 personally, talking about his own experience, how he decided to ‘get busy living’ again by supporting others and will also share the story of a beneficiary.
There is a Foundation page on the BBC Radio 4 Appeal website with full details including how to make a donation (the link is available only until 30th August) and a dedicated page on the Foundation’s own website for more details on the appeal.
Please share our social media posts to help us reach as far as possible and support young people to ‘get busy living’ again following serious injury.
The Foundation changes lives on a daily basis, providing physical and emotional support at its Get Busy Living Centre with expert physiotherapy, personal training, wellbeing and practical advice, creating opportunities to show what is possible after life-changing injury and that there is an exciting and fulfilling life out there.
