ORIGINAL BENEFICIARY BACK ON BOARD AS A FOUNDATION TRUSTEE

The Matt Hampson Foundation is delighted to welcome Henry Fraser as a member of its board of trustees.

As the Foundation’s first-ever beneficiary, Henry is well known to Matt and the team at the Get Busy Living Centre.

Henry was a young rugby player when he experienced a life-changing injury in 2009 and told his story in his book ‘The Little Big Things’ which has since been adapted into an award-winning West End hit musical.

He is now a renowned artist as well as motivational speaker.

Matt Hampson OBE, who created the Foundation to support and inspire young people after serious injury, said: “Henry is proof that you can still make the most of your talents after life-changing injury. We’ve known each other for a long time and it has been incredible to see his progress in so many different ways over the years.

“I’m delighted, on behalf of everyone at the Foundation, that he has come on board as a trustee and look forward to working closely with him in coming years as we look to develop the Foundation, our unique Get Busy Living Centre and provide support for more young people after injury.”

Henry attended his first meeting of trustees in August at the Get Busy Living Centre near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, which was opened by Matt in 2018 to provide physical and emotional support in rehabilitation from serious injury.

On his new appointment, Henry said: “Having seen what Matt has achieved with the Foundation has been nothing short of remarkable. I’m not surprised by the success and ambition as Matt has a rare quality to really want to help and support others. I have experienced that first-hand, being his first beneficiary, but also from the first time I met him.

“To be a part of this very special team and help the Foundation progress to help even more people is a real privilege.”

Chairman of trustees Roy Jackson commented: “It is indeed an honour and a pleasure to welcome Henry as a member of the Matt Hampson Foundation board of trustees. Henry, like Matt, is absolute proof that there is life after a spinal cord injury. His unique qualities will be a great help to all our beneficiaries.”

A free exhibition of Henry Fraser’s art is hosted at The Grove, Watford, on 14th and 15th September.
