DEAN GETS BACK ON HIS BIKE FROM PARIS TO LONDON

Rugby legend Dean Richards is joining a group of fundraisers pedalling from Paris to the Premiership Rugby Final in June in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation and 4Ed Campaign.

Known as the Gravity Fundraisers, the group aim to raise £50,000 for their chosen causes, covering the distance between the French capital and Twickenham stadium.

They start on Thursday 6th June, aiming to cover more than 200 miles in just over two days to reach English club rugby’s showpiece event at the national stadium.

“But we can’t do it alone,” says Dean in a post on LinkedIn. “I’m reaching out to my extended LinkedIn family to join me in this meaningful journey. Whether you’re able to contribute financially, spread the word or simply cheer me on, your support will help amplify our impact and bring hope to those who need it most.”

The Matt Hampson Foundation supports and inspires young people seriously injured through sport, and provides facilities including personal training, specialist physiotherapy and wellbeing support at its Get Busy Living Centre.

4Ed was created following Ed Slater’s diagnosis with motor neurone disease while still a player at Gloucester Rugby. The campaign offers support for families affected by MND and aims to raise awareness of the condition.

Dean is following his cycling adventure by joining participants on the Foundation’s Walk4Matt during a 100-mile fundraising journey along the route of the Grand Union Canal in the week after the Gallagher Premiership Final before he has scheduled knee replacement surgery in the summer.
