THE COUNTDOWN TO MATT’S LONDON MARATHON

Follow Matt Hampson’s progress as he prepares for his biggest challenge yet at the London Marathon in April with a team of support runners from his Foundation.

Paralysed from the neck down and breathing via a ventilator since an accident in training as a 20-year-old rugby player in 2005, Matt created the Foundation as a charity to help other young people following catastrophic injury at all levels of sporting activity.

He opened the Get Busy Living Centre in 2018 and the team have provided emotional and physical support for hundreds of beneficiaries.

Now Matt is planning to take that support even further with an extension to facilities at the Centre and continued development of a network of regional hubs.

To help fund these plans and to raise awareness of the Foundation’s work, he is taking part in the TCS London Marathon and already training hard with his team.

You can follow his training updates and meet the team on the Foundation’s social media posts now.

“So many people support the Foundation in different ways and I think it is about time that I did a challenge too,” said Matt.

“This is my Everest.

“I see our beneficiaries doing great things every day, all following our ‘Get Busy Living’ mantra following injury to continue to lead exciting and fulfilling lives.”

Matt will be accompanied in London by four close friends – Sutty, Amy, Paul and Carl – while legendary jockey Sir A P McCoy is also running to support the Foundation after witnessing its work with his good friend and fellow Grand National winner Graham Lee. Staff, beneficiaries and other fundraisers and supporters will be there in Hambo colours too.
