COLES TEAM SET UP SAHARA CHALLENGE
A team from long-term supporters Coles Nurseries is preparing for a Sahara Desert challenge to raise funds for the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Five members of Coles’ management training group will trek for four days in November through energy-sapping terrain and heat from M’hamid to Sidi Ab Nbi with the goal of raising £10,000 for their charity partners while also putting leadership and teamwork skills to the test.
The Matt Hampson Foundation, which supports young people following life-changing injury in sport, has been chosen for support alongside Perennial, the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society which aids workers in the horticulture industry.
The expedition has been organised through Global Adventure Challenges who have a commitment to sustainability and carbon offsetting, planting 15 trees for every person who takes part in their events, which means 75 new trees for the planet on behalf of the Coles team.
The team of Laura Dakin, Luke Hopper, Tom Tyler, Ed Coles and Izzie Coles are organising other fundraising challenges too.
Ed is planning a 24-hour run at Tilton on the Hill in Leicestershire near the Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre– when anyone who wants to join him for a mile or two will be more than welcome – and there is a charity golf day planned at Scraptoft Golf Club.
The team will share a donations page soon and provide updates on the Coles Nurseries social media pages.
